National Library Workers Day

Today is National Library Workers Day. The Smithsonian Libraries would like to celebrate its entire staff and all they do, every day. The Libraries updates its public and patrons with posts on this blog, website, Galaxy of Images, as well as through Web 2.0 applications such as twittter, facebook and flickr. Check us out and leave a comment to say hello to a librarian or staff member who helps make your day a little easier.SIL_NMAH_02 Richard-GreeneKathryn—Elizabeth PerialeSIL_BCL_02

I'm a little late in catching up, but I'm pleased to see this post. The fact that we are now using these web 2.0 tools shows me how forward-looking our staff are -- you're the greatest! Nancy

A special thanks to all the SIL Acquisitions Services staff, the Catalog Management and Contract Cataloging staff, the Interlibrary Loan Services staff, the Metadata Services staff, the Original Cataloging and Serials staff, and the Preservation Services staff for all you do! You are very much appreciated!

A toast to our super library staff throughout SIL.

It's great to have a day dedicated to celebrating Library workers. Even if what we do seems hidden inside the "world's largest museum complex," you are contributing to the increase and diffusion of knowledge in many important ways.

Cheers!!

We'd love to hear from you - post your comment!
