Look Out for Brett Lambert!

DSCN1087 On June 1st, summer intern Brett Lambert joined the Libraries’ Digital Services Division. Lambert is a candidate in the Alberta Smithsonian Internship Program (ASIP), which is a special partnership between the government of Alberta, Canada and the Smithsonian Institution. Originally from Edmonton, Alberta (check your map – it’s above western Montana!), Lambert is currently enrolled in a Masters of Library and Information Studies program at the University of Alberta. His studies thus far have included courses in cataloging, intellectual freedom, and health sciences librarianship.

For the duration of his internship, Lambert is reporting to Martin Kalfatovic, Assistant Director, Digital Services Division. His assigned projects entail working with the web services, metadata, and image management units. Lambert will evaluate tools for editing XMP/IPTC data, embed bibliographic metadata in Libraries hosted PDFs, research methodologies and draft a plan for assessing user studies on the Libraries web pages. In addition, Lambert will upload U.S. Exploring Expedition images to the Biodiversity Heritage Library’s hard drive.

A fan of Steven Spielberg, Lambert’s favorite flicks are E.T. and the Indiana Jones series. A man of adventure, he has future plans to visit France, Italy, and Spain. Lambert enjoys reading fiction novels, most especially those by Chuck Palahniuk, author of Fight Club.  Before leaving D.C. in August, he hopes to visit the Spy Museum, Ford’s Theater, and the house where Abraham Lincoln died.

Brett has also been writing entries for this blog. Look out for some of his interesting posts in the very near future.—Liz O'Brien
